Income Tax Disclosure [Abstract] | |
INCOME TAXES | INCOME TAXES Equifax and its subsidiaries are subject to U.S. federal, state and international income taxes. We are generally no longer subject to federal, state, or international income tax examinations by tax authorities for years before 2020. Due to the potential for resolution of state and foreign examinations, and the expiration of various statutes of limitations, it is reasonably possible that our gross unrecognized tax benefit balance may change within the next twelve months by a range of $0 to $15.0 million.
Effective Tax Rate
Our effective income tax rate was 24.3% for the three months ended March 31, 2024, compared to 25.4% for the three months ended March 31, 2023. Our effective tax rate was lower for the first three months of 2024 as compared to the same periods in 2023 due to more favorable discrete benefits, none of which were individually material, as compared to the prior year, which were partially offset by an increase in the foreign rate differential.
