Changing regulations and evolving tax policies have caused unprecedented challenges for employers today. During the American Payroll Association's 32nd Annual Congress, the experts from Equifax Workforce Solutions will lead three educational sessions to arm attendees with the knowledge and resources needed to understand current trends, and how they impact payroll processes and HR strategies at their organizations.

"Unemployment Tax Impact in 2014 and Beyond"

During this session, Michael Mohr, vice president, and Matthew White, region director, Employment Tax Services for Equifax Workforce Solutions, will join Brent R. Gow, CPP, and director of Global Payroll for Starbucks Coffee Company, to discuss the current state of the national economy as it relates to unemployment taxes. Mohr, White and Gow will explore recent legislative trends as well as ongoing state trust fund challenges. Attendees will learn proactive best practices for planning, tax rating and claims management related to unemployment costs.

"Time to Take Control of Your I-9 Compliance"

To ensure I-9 compliance, employers need to know the requirements at both the state and federal level. During this session, Troy Hupp, director of I-9 and Compliance Center Services for Equifax Workforce Solutions, and Barbara M. Youngman, CPP, manager, International Payroll for Northrop Grumman Corporation, will highlight the most recent I-9 requirements and help attendees identify steps toward mitigating risk and achieving compliance. Attendees will hear electronic I-9 success stories and have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session.

"Tax Credits and Incentives Impact the Bottom Line by Leveraging Payroll Data"

In this workshop, Lisa Harris, controller, Accounting Operations for TrueBlue will join payroll consultant Gretchen L. Inouye, CPP, and Scott D. Shipman, senior tax manager - Tax Credit Subject Matter Resource for Equifax Workforce Solutions, to provide an overview of the tax credits and incentive opportunities available to employers. This educational session will focus on those federal and state incentives that help minimize tax liabilities and can impact an employer's bottom line. Attendees will learn more about the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), Job Creation, Enterprise Zones and other location-based incentives.

In addition to these sessions, conference attendees who wish to learn more about how Equifax Workforce Solutions can provide workforce insights, support HR compliance, help optimize processes and reduce costs at their organization are encouraged to visit Booth No. 101.
