Equifax Named Top Three Finalist in 2008 Data Analytics Challenge
Company Recognized in Direct Marketing Association Analytics Competition
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Equifax Inc. (NYSE: EFX) today announced that it was one of the top finishers in the 2008 Data Analytics Challenge sponsored by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) Analytics Council and the CAC Group, Inc. The company's innovative analytics solution finished among the top three in a competition that drew more than 25 of the industry's top modeling companies.
"As companies increasingly look for new ways to stay ahead of challenging market trends, innovative predictive analytics will play a vital role in helping businesses better understand financial behaviors and what truly drives performance," said Martin O'Connor, Vice President, Modeling and Analysis at Equifax. "This recognition is a tribute to Equifax's continued investment in powerful analytics that help businesses derive greater value from marketing programs and grow customer relationships."
Now in its third year, the annual Challenge recognizes companies that demonstrate superior analytics performance while educating today's analysts on best practices in modeling and data manipulation. In the 2008 contest, each company was charged with creating a profitable direct mail campaign using the same dataset and latest data modeling techniques. Leveraging an extensive suite of variables, Equifax developed a series of models to measure response rate and maximize the profitability of campaign responders. Using optimization analysis that included comparative profile models, Equifax analysts provided deeper insight into the profitability of the marketing promotion.
Equifax and other 2008 finalists were honored at the National Center for Database Marketing (NCDM) Conference December 8 - 10 in Orlando. At a special NCDM forum, Equifax showcased its model in a presentation highlighting the team's analysis and approach to the analytics process.
